A Hyperloop One Network Can Create a Netherlands Super-Region

Alan James, our VP of worldwide business development, gave a talk a week ago at the Pakhuis De Zwijger in Amsterdam about the value to be unlocked by building a high-speed backbone in the Netherlands connecting its cities and existing freight and passenger transport infrastructure.

The Netherlands is already at the forefront of innovation and infrastructure projects, and is an attractive country for one of our use cases--the regional loop.  Hyperloop One could connect all the key nodes of the Randstad (Amsterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, and Rotterdam along with Schiphol Airport and the Port of Rotterdam) into an even more integrated super-regional economic unit.

Building on existing Dutch leadership in integrated transport, such as the seamless access to multimodal transport made possible by the nationally-valid OV-chipkaart, a Randstad loop using Hyperloop One’s 1,200 km/h on-demand transport system, would connect everywhere to everywhere in one of the world’s most vibrant economic zones in 10 minutes or less.

Alan’s talk concludes with a look forward to what could happen on a ‘Netherlands Plus’ scale, when Hyperloop One connects the major Dutch population centres and freight hubs in under an hour to a vast European hinterland in under an hour.

Take a look. We look forward to working with the business and public sectors in the Netherlands to make this happen.
