Ziyavudin Magomedov is a Russian entrepreneur, venture capitalist and philanthropist who was an early investor and member of the board of directors for Hyperloop One before being named Co-Executive Chairman.
He’s made a global name for himself as the founder, owner and chairman of Summa Group, which has emerged as the one of the nation’s leaders in ports, logistics, transport, gas and construction.
Magomedev is also a driving force in global sports and entertainment, helping turn Fight Nights Global into Europe’s largest MMA promotion company with headline events featuring A-list athletes worldwide. He’s also a prominent figure in other sports as president of the Admiral Vladivostok hockey club and an active backer of the Night Hockey League.
Magomedov is an ardent philanthropist, devoting a large part of his life to preserving cultural and historical heritage and improving education in Russia.
Among his contributions is financing the complete renovation of a number of beloved Russian institutions including the Bolshoi Theater. Magomedov graduated from the economics faculty of Moscow State University in 1994 with a degree in the global economy. He earned his PhD in economics in 2000.
As the founder of Caspian Venture Capital Partners was an early investor in numerous successful startups including Uber, Uber China, Diamond Foundry, ASAPP and Peek. Magomedov currently ranks 63rd in the 2017 Forbes Russia Rich List, which estimates his wealth at $1.4 billion.
